PRESENTATION :
This sleek and elegant titanium bike was designed to perform equally well on the road and on trails, with the goal of enabling long, efficient, yet comfortable rides. Titanium is therefore an ideal choice for long-distance riding. Its light weight, combined with its natural elasticity, minimizes energy loss during accelerations while providing much-appreciated flexibility and comfort. The Truss fork, whose design you’ve already seen on Marie’s bike?was also chosen here for its comfort and lightness, but also for its lines and design (it’s okay to be a little stylish in the cycling world ;). Here again, we’ve used the Avalanche Truss fork, a model we designed to be independent of the stem, so that these two components function separately, allowing for slight adjustments to the riding position over time if necessary. This is also part of our vision for a bike that will stand the test of time and adapt to potential changes in our bodies or flexibility.
This fork also features an integrated titanium rack for mounting a front pannier, as well as a side-mounted light mount to free up space on the handlebars. This rack, which typically remains the same across different truss models, has been slightly widened here to accommodate the Berthoud Dynema pannier. We then followed the recommendations provided to mount it properly. Thinking through and incorporating luggage into the design process is a real asset and allows you to plan for everything in advance. In this case, it was also a key factor in determining the bike’s finish.
COMPONENTS
As for components, as is often the case, we chose a pair of low-profile carbon wheels, laced here with a Son dynamo hub on the front. The Supernova front light complements the setup perfectly with its beautiful silver finish, as does the rear light, the discreet yet powerful little Bush & Müller. As with every truss fork equipped with lighting, the wiring is discreetly integrated to position the light on the side of the rack, keeping the handlebars clear and ensuring the bike remains highly visible.
The drivetrain chosen here is a classic yet effective Shimano GRX, allowing for the installation of a wide-range cassette, in this case, machined by Garbaruk, a brand we particularly appreciate for the beauty, reliability, and lightness of their aluminum components. We also chose to replace the stock crankset with a lesser-known model from Cyber Cycles, a small German brand that offers a wide range of options and sizes for its cranks. Paired with a silver Garbaruk chainring, this crankset adds a touch of brightness to the entire bike.
The build also includes fenders—in this case, carbon fenders from the British brand Véloduo—which combine protection with lightness.
FINISH :
Finally, when it came to the bike’s paint job, Marcello didn’t have a specific idea in mind, but he wanted a bike with a bright look that would highlight the brushed titanium finish. We decided to take inspiration from his front pannier. We applied a slightly pearlescent white to the front half of the bike as well as to part of the fork. As a result, the bike and its luggage are almost entirely rendered in shades of white and silver, with touches of black. The brushed titanium also shines through in the letters of the AVALANCHE logo, and only the sidewalls of the tires, in this case, René Herse tires, add a pop of color to the whole look, reminding us that we do indeed live in a world of color.
