PRESENTATION :

Designed to push the limits of endurance, this custom-built bike in Columbus XCR stainless steel embodies a subtle balance between performance, reliability, and comfort. Created for an ultra-distance enthusiast, every detail has been carefully considered to meet the demands of the most challenging events that the owner of this machine particularly enjoys.

The frame takes full advantage of the mechanical properties of Columbus stainless steel: perfectly controlled stiffness, natural vibration damping, and exceptional durability. It delivers consistent responsiveness, even after long hours in the saddle, when every acceleration becomes more demanding due to fatigue.

Each component was selected with the same focus on coherence. The stem and seatpost come from the German workshop Tune. Their machined design ensures lightness, rigidity, and reliability — an excellent alternative to carbon for those who seek performance without compromising on strength. We particularly appreciate these components for their outstanding balance between weight and durability.

As with many of our builds, we opted for a pair of Duke Baccara wheels, chosen for their low weight, stiffness, and comfort. Handbuilt in France, they offer impressive efficiency, excellent stability, and full tubeless compatibility — ideal for long-distance riding. Technically and aesthetically, they integrate seamlessly into the overall balance of the bike.

Because autonomy is essential for this type of build, a dynamo hub lighting system was integrated. The SON hub is paired with a Sinewave power supply, allowing devices to be charged while riding, and a Supernova E3 rear light, renowned for its reliability. A custom front mount was specifically designed to hold both the headlight and GPS computer. It was precisely machined to optimize cockpit space — often crowded on ultra-distance setups. Independently adjustable for both light and GPS, the mount allows for a handlebar bag to be installed without any interference or compromise.

This discreet yet essential component required several hours of design and fine-tuning — a testament to the care and precision brought to every detail of this project.

The SRAM Force AXS groupset completes the build with modern efficiency. Wireless, precise, and reliable, it reduces long-term mechanical risks. The interchangeable batteries make power management simple and secure, and their compact size makes carrying a spare battery easy. It’s a drivetrain perfectly suited to ultra-distance — as functional as it is forward-thinking.

Finally, the finish enhances the bike’s uniqueness. The “Chameleon” color, with its shifting hues of red, bronze, and violet depending on the light, adds visual depth to the frame. This play of reflections is further emphasized by a deep black gradient along the lower section, creating a smooth transition into the dark components and adding an elegant touch to the whole.
